Dragon Yoga Teacher Training

At Dragon, teachers are the heart of our kula.  We believe in the power of yoga to improve people's lives – because we have experienced it ourselves.  We love to share it when we teach students.  But it's even more powerful when we help those students become teachers themselves.  If you're new to teaching yoga, our Teacher Training program will change your life:  You'll join a small group on a journey together, learning how to teach and share the yoga you love, while also becoming a stronger yogi yourself. And if you're already a teacher, it will speed you along on this journey as you gain confidence and expertise as an advanced teacher.

 

Dragon Yoga Teacher Training is a well-established school of yoga, registered with Yoga Alliance® at the 200- and 300-hour levels, and recognized as a Registered Yoga School (RYS) since 2015. Our skilled instructors have over 30 years combined experience across different fields of yoga, offering students a deep understanding of yogic practices and philosophy. Dragon Yoga Teacher Training will improve your knowledge of asana, applied anatomy, and biomechanics.  You'll also learn methods that will help you continue your own yoga journey and inspire others.

 

The program is built around teaching techniques that give you the skills you need to feel comfortable leading a class and designing your own sequences.

Directed by Desirae Penton, owner of Dragon Yoga, the DY Teacher Training Program is led by talented yoga instructors who use time-honored techniques, while also incorporating modern knowledge. Desirae and her teachers have designed the program so that graduates will be able to teach others effectively, safely, and purposefully in a moderately heated environment. 

 

This program is open to those who plan to become yoga instructors.  We also welcome anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of yoga and improve their practice in a setting that's more focused than the standard yoga class.

Dragon Yoga serves individuals at every stage of their yoga practice.  We view the body as a sacred instrument of alignment and reunion with the Divine. Our mission is to encourage and promote each student’s individual growth and self-expression using an alignment-based practice from the heart. Together, we strive to build a strong, diverse yoga community and foster an environment in which every student feels welcomed, safe, and empowered.

What to expect…

In addition to your regular yoga practice, you will incorporate self-study, complete homework assignments or readings, and participate in regular testing as you advance through the program.
